Under 6 to Under 12 age categories
Wednesday evening Summer Omnium coaching and racing - Age Under 6 through to Under 12.
From early May to mid September, at the Frank Machon cycle track at Les Quennevais, St Brelade. Registration is from 5.45pm with the session starting at 6pm until 7.30pm
The different age groups rotate around thirty minute coached sessions on Grass, Track and Skills. Within this there will be a mini-race or time trial, with points counting towards an overall championship, where medals and trophies are awarded.
Don’t be deterred by the “championship” – we have riders who simply want to ride their bike safely and sociably, who still enjoy the racing, right through to riders who see cycling as a primary sport and seek to be competitive.
We strive to make these events inclusive but most importantly, Fun.
Please note that children cannot be left without a parent or guardian present for the duration of the session. We also rely on parents to help marshal to ensure the safety of the event.
Under 14 and above riders begin to spend more time riding and racing with adults to introduce them and prepare them for joining one of the Jersey Cycling Association clubs once they are aged over 18. We support our older riders with bespoke programmes with the coaches that focus on the specific requirements of the riders, such as the Rider-to-Racer Series.
- In June, we are planning four, Monday evening sessions to introduce 2nd year U12's and U14's, to group racing, focussing on race technique, etiquette and safety. This will be with adult riders from local clubs, held at Les Quennevais track, to prepare them for the divisional series of races from July.
- Division 4 and Division 3 races with adults are held at Les Quennevais, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings respectively, commencing 3 July.
- Under 14's have a coached road group ride on Wednesday evenings From early May to mid September, meeting at Les Quennevais cycle track. Level 2 Cycling Proficiency Certificate is recommended, however attendance will ultimately be at the coaches discretion. A Coaching Consent Form must also be completed
